In Loving Memory of Tina Loper
The community of Flint and the wider Smith County area are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tina Loper, whose life was tragically cut short on Thursday afternoon in a devastating roadway incident. Tina, 63, was a beloved member of her community, and her passing has left family, friends, and neighbors with heavy hearts and a deep sense of sorrow.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 1:43 p.m. Thursday in Smith County, Texas, between Highway 31 and Highway 155 near mile marker 19. Authorities reported that the collision involved an 18-wheeler and three other vehicles, including a Jeep, a Tahoe, and a Subaru SUV. Investigators said the 18-wheeler approached the vehicles from behind and was unable to slow down in time, striking the rear of the Jeep driven by Tina Loper. The force of the impact led to a chain-reaction involving the other vehicles.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, Tina was sadly pronounced deceased at the location. Three other individuals involved in the incident were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Andy Dunklin later identified the victim as Tina Loper of Flint, confirming that her family had been notified. Authorities temporarily closed the roadway for several hours as crews worked to investigate the circumstances and safely clear the scene. By approximately 4:50 p.m., the roadway was reopened to traffic.
