In Loving Memory of Emilynn Clark

In Loving Memory of Emilynn Clark

With broken hearts, the community of Vicco and the entire Perry County Central High School family mourn the tragic loss of 16-year-old Emilynn Clark, whose life was cut far too short on Saturday evening following an ATV accident on Oakwood Avenue.

According to reports shared by WYMT, the accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding the crash. Sheriff Joe Engle stated that the ATV was occupied by four individuals — two juvenile females and two adult males. The vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old female, reportedly lost control and went over a culvert-type embankment. Emilynn, who was a passenger, tragically lost her life as a result of the crash.

One male passenger was transported by medevac to a trauma center where he continues to receive treatment for serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that the ATV was owned by Noah Back. The juvenile operator has been charged with driving under the influence, and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample. The results of that test are pending as the investigation continues.

Yet beyond the details of the accident and the legal process that will follow, today we pause to honor Emilynn — not for the tragedy that took her from us, but for the life she lived and the joy she brought into the world.

Emilynn was more than a student; she was a bright light in the halls of Perry County Central High School. She was a daughter whose smile meant everything to her family. She was a friend who shared laughter, secrets, and dreams. She was a classmate whose presence made ordinary days a little brighter. At just 16 years old, she carried hopes for the future, plans yet to be fulfilled, and a heart full of life.

The statement released by Perry County Central reflects the depth of this loss: “Our hearts are broken for the student’s family. Our counselors will be on hand Monday morning as a resource for our students and staff.” Those words capture the grief that now fills classrooms and corridors. An empty desk. A quiet hallway. A community trying to process the unimaginable.

Sheriff Engle has asked that everyone remember these families in their prayers during this most difficult time. Indeed, this tragedy touches many — Emilynn’s loved ones, the other families involved, her friends, teachers, and neighbors. The pain is widespread, and the healing will take time.

In moments like these, communities come together. They hold one another closer. They share stories, tears, and memories. They light candles and whisper prayers. They remember the sound of her laughter, the kindness in her heart, and the promise of her young life.

Though her time on earth was brief, Emilynn Clark’s impact will not fade. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her fiercely. It will live on in school traditions, in shared stories among friends, and in the quiet strength her family carries forward.

May her loved ones find comfort in one another.

May her friends find peace in cherished memories.

May her school find unity in support and compassion.

And may Emilynn Clark rest gently in eternal peace, forever remembered, forever loved, and forever 16.
