In Loving Memory of Josiph F. Losson
With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we remember Josiph F. Losson, 27, whose life was tragically cut short on the evening of February 27, 2026.
At approximately 6:38 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in front of 725 E. Kearney Street in Springfield. According to reports, Josiph was walking across Kearney Street when he was struck by a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was then hit by a second vehicle, a 2001 Lexus IS. Authorities noted that he was not using a crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Josiph was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His family has been notified, and they now face the unimaginable pain of losing someone so young and so dearly loved.
While details surrounding the crash remain under active investigation, what remains undeniable is the profound loss felt by those who knew Josiph. At just 27 years old, he had a lifetime of possibilities ahead of him — dreams still unfolding, goals still in progress, and moments still waiting to be lived.
Josiph was more than the circumstances of that tragic evening. He was a son, a family member, and a friend. He was someone whose presence mattered, whose life carried meaning, and whose absence now leaves a silence that cannot be filled. Those who shared laughter, conversations, and everyday moments with him will forever hold those memories close to their hearts.
Tragedies like this remind us of life’s fragility. In an instant, everything can change. As the community reflects on this heartbreaking loss, may it also be a reminder to cherish one another, to show kindness freely, and to hold our loved ones a little closer.
