Chrystobal “Chris” Hernandez, 17, and Brayan Negrete, 19, tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash early Sunday morning along County Road 565 near Groveland. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:48 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 565 and Sloans Ridge Road. Reports indicate that a 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling southbound lost control, ran off the right side of the roadway, and struck multiple trees. The impact caused the vehicle to become engulfed in flames. Despite the efforts of first responders, both teenagers were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A vigil was held near the crash site, where loved ones gathered to remember the two friends whose lives ended so suddenly.
