The San Luis community is mourning the tragic loss of 28-year-old Andres Ramirez, a young man whose life was abruptly cut short in a devastating traffic collision on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. What began as a routine morning commute on SR195 turned into heartbreak for family, friends, and neighbors when Andres was involved in a fatal collision that claimed his life.

At approximately 7:23 a.m., officers from the San Luis Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash near milepost 8. The initial investigation revealed that an unrelated incident had occurred at milepost 9, creating traffic congestion along the eastbound lanes. Amid the slow-moving traffic, a black 2023 BMW SUV lost control and struck a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, causing both vehicles to veer off the road and come to rest on the dirt median.

Andres Ramirez, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries from the impact. Emergency personnel quickly transported him to Onvida Health in Yuma, Arizona, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries.
