In Loving Memory of Austin Lamb

In Loving Memory of Austin Lamb

With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Austin Lamb, whose passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire Parkersburg community.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 28, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers with the Parkersburg Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of 40th Street in response to a report of an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers immediately began rendering aid, doing everything within their power to preserve life until personnel from the Parkersburg Fire Department and emergency medical services arrived and continued life-saving efforts.

Despite the swift response and relentless efforts of first responders, Austin tragically succumbed to his injuries at the residence. His loss is one that words can scarcely capture — a life taken too soon, leaving behind memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As officers worked tirelessly at the scene, information regarding a possible suspect was shared with fellow law enforcement, including deputies from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. A female suspect was located and detained approximately one mile from the residence at around 12:19 a.m. The suspect, identified as Claudia Torres, has been charged with First Degree Murder. She was processed at the police department and placed in the Wood County Holding Center to await arraignment in Wood County Magistrate Court. As with all legal matters, it is important to remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

While the investigation continues, the focus today remains on remembering Austin — not for the tragedy of his passing, but for the life he lived.

Austin Lamb was more than a headline or a victim of circumstance. He was a son, a friend, a neighbor, and a presence in the lives of many. Those who knew him speak of his personality, his laughter, and the unique light he carried into every room. Whether through simple conversations, shared memories, or quiet acts of kindness, Austin made an impact that will not be forgotten.

The pain of losing someone in such a sudden and heartbreaking manner is indescribable. His family now faces the unimaginable task of grieving while seeking answers and healing. In times like these, a community’s strength is measured by how it surrounds those who are hurting. Parkersburg stands united in sorrow, compassion, and support for Austin’s loved ones.

Authorities have asked that anyone with information related to this case contact Detective Mathess at 304-424-1058 as the investigation remains ongoing. The Parkersburg Police Department has stated that additional details will be released when appropriate.

As we remember Austin Lamb, we choose to hold onto the moments that defined his life rather than the circumstances that ended it. We honor the memories shared, the bonds formed, and the love that will continue long after his passing.

May his family find strength in the embrace of community.

May justice proceed with integrity and fairness.

And may Austin Lamb rest in eternal peace, remembered always and forgotten never.
