In Loving Memory of Demond Tenner
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember and honor the precious life of Demond Tenner, a bright and innocent 5-year-old from Baker, Louisiana, whose life was tragically taken far too soon in a devastating crash on the night of March 7 in St. James Parish.
According to investigators, the crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. along Louisiana Highway 3213, about a mile north of LA-3127. Authorities reported that a southbound 2019 Hyundai Tucson crossed the centerline while both vehicles were entering curves in the roadway and collided head-on with a northbound 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. In the aftermath of the crash, the Tucson became fully engulfed in flames, creating a heartbreaking and chaotic scene.
Among those inside the Malibu was young Demond Tenner, who was seated as a rear passenger. Despite the efforts of first responders, Demond tragically lost his life at the scene. Another 4-year-old passenger was seriously injured, and the drivers along with other occupants involved in the crash were transported to nearby hospitals with moderate to serious injuries.
Today, a community mourns the unimaginable loss of a child whose life had only just begun. At just five years old, Demond represented everything pure and hopeful about childhood—laughter that could brighten a room, dreams still forming, and a future filled with possibilities that will now never unfold. The pain of losing such a young life is indescribable, and our hearts go out to his family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.
Children like Demond leave footprints on the hearts of those around them. Though his time on this earth was short, the love he gave and the joy he brought to his family will never be forgotten. His memory will forever live on in the stories shared, the photos cherished, and the love that continues to surround his name.
As the Baker and St. James Parish communities come together during this difficult time, they do so united in grief but also in remembrance of a young life that mattered deeply.
