The city of Tucson is mourning the tragic loss of Griselda Josephine Houston, a beloved 56-year-old woman whose life was cut short in a devastating pedestrian crash on the evening of February 24. Her passing has left a deep ache in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.

According to reports from KVOA, officers with the Tucson Police Department responded around 7:12 p.m. to the 6200 block of East Broadway Boulevard, near Wilmot Road, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Griselda was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined that Griselda had been attempting to cross Broadway Boulevard on the south side of the roadway when she was struck by a 2007 Nissan Titan traveling eastbound. Authorities noted that she was not in a designated crosswalk at the time, with the nearest marked crossing approximately 380 feet away. The 65-year-old driver of the truck was not injured. Following witness interviews and examination of roadway evidence by the Traffic Collision Investigation Unit, police stated that impairment on the part of the driver was a factor in the crash, along with crossing outside of a crosswalk.
