According to officials from the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 12:40 a.m. in the 100 block of West Front Street in Evergreen. Authorities reported that multiple individuals were shot during the incident. Sadly, Melvontaie, a resident of Greenville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Emergency responders from the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office arrived alongside the Evergreen Police Department, the Conecuh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, all working together to secure the scene and begin the investigation into the heartbreaking event.

Melvontaie’s body will be respectfully transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Mobile for examination as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
