The community of Spartanburg is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a beautiful young life taken far too soon. Jaylin Simpson, just 8 years old, tragically lost her life following a devastating crash in Spartanburg County on Saturday night. Her passing has left family, friends, and the entire community grieving the loss of a child whose life had only just begun.
According to authorities, the crash occurred around 9:58 p.m. near the intersection of Fosters Grove Road and Sandy Ford Road. Troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a 2006 Mazda sedan was involved in a single-vehicle accident.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling east on Sandy Ford Road when it ran the stop sign at the intersection and left the roadway on the right side of Fosters Grove Road. The car then entered an open field, striking several trees before colliding with an embankment. The crash left a devastating scene and forever changed the lives of those involved.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office later identified the young victim as Jaylin Simpson, who lived on Prince Hall Lane in Spartanburg. Tragically, Jaylin was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:25 p.m. that night.
Officials also reported that there were five people inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Four other passengers were injured and transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
