In Loving Memory of Donnie Morgan
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, family members, friends, and the community of Hickory are mourning the tragic loss of Donnie Morgan, 36, whose life was taken far too soon in a heartbreaking act of violence on the evening of March 13, 2026. According to authorities, officers with the Hickory Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:50 p.m. at a residence located at 902 2nd Street Court SW. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Donnie Morgan suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Tragically, despite the response from emergency personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two additional individuals were also injured during the incident. Michael Wilfong, 54, of Hickory, and Deangelo Morgan, 39, of Conover, were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment after suffering gunshot wounds. The events of that night have shaken the entire community, leaving many searching for answers while grieving an unimaginable loss.
During the course of the investigation, authorities identified Melvin Ramseur, 28, as the suspect responsible for the shooting. He has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder and is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Center without bond as the investigation continues.
