In Loving Memory of Jamarious “Jay-Tez” Butler

On Friday night, a heartbreaking incident unfolded when officers with the Owensboro Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Orchard Street at approximately 9:23 p.m. in response to reports of a shooting involving two victims. First responders arrived quickly, and investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Evidence Collection Unit began working to gather information and evidence from the scene. Despite the efforts made that evening, Jamarious sadly did not survive.
Another individual involved in the incident was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in serious condition. Authorities have stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing, and preliminary information indicates there is no continuing threat to the public.
Beyond the tragedy of that night, Jamarious “Jay-Tez” Butler will be remembered for the person he was to those who loved him. He was more than a name in a headline—he was a son, a friend, a relative, and a presence in the lives of many.
