In Loving Memory of Jason McCarty
The community of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and surrounding areas is mourning the tragic loss of Jason McCarty, who passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 44 following a devastating traffic collision in Mercer County, Kentucky. His sudden passing has left family members, friends, and neighbors heartbroken as they come to terms with the loss of a man whose life meant so much to those who knew him.
According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers from the Kentucky State Police Richmond Post were contacted just before 7:00 a.m. on the morning of March 10 regarding a two-vehicle collision on Louisville Road (US‑127) near Salvisa, Kentucky.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that a trash truck belonging to Rumpke Waste & Recycling, operated by 35-year-old Jeremy Caudill of Hustonville, Kentucky, had stopped in the northbound lane while collecting trash at a residence along the roadway. During that time, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jason McCarty approached from behind and struck the truck.
Tragically, the impact of the collision proved fatal for Jason McCarty. Despite the efforts of first responders who quickly arrived at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Mercer County Coroner’s Office. Jeremy Caudill, the driver of the trash truck, was not injured in the crash.
While investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident, those who knew Jason McCarty are focused on remembering the life he lived rather than the tragedy that took him away.

To his family, he was a devoted son, relative, and friend whose presence brought warmth and familiarity to everyday moments.
