Georgia – August 2025 – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has confirmed the capture of 21-year-old Lavernous Arnold, who was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jaykavion Gary in Remerton, Georgia. Arnold was apprehended in Lubbock, Texas following coordinated efforts by law enforcement and public tips.
The Incident:
On July 5, 2025, Jaykavion Gary was tragically shot and killed during the early morning hours on Bay Tree Place in Remerton. Authorities quickly launched an investigation, identifying Arnold as the primary suspect in the fatal shooting.
The Suspect:
Lavernous Arnold, described as a Black male, 5’6”, 150 pounds, was considered armed and dangerous. Following the incident, law enforcement issued an active alert and sought the public’s assistance in locating him.
The Capture:
Arnold was apprehended in Lubbock, Texas, after an August advisory from the GBI and the Remerton Police Department requested public assistance. Authorities confirmed that he was taken into custody safely, ending the manhunt that had persisted since the July incident.
The GBI and Remerton Police continue to work closely on the investigation. Arnold is expected to face charges related to the fatal shooting of Jaykavion Gary.
