CASS COUNTY, Minn. – Authorities have released new information regarding the tragic boating accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon near Walker City Park on Leech Lake.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Theresa Kay Cechini, 59, of Cass Lake, Minnesota.
Cause of Death Update
According to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, Cechini suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, which caused her to lose control of the boat. The vessel subsequently collided with rocks and the shoreline near the park.

Deputies responded to reports of the incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Emergency personnel located the victim and removed her from the boat, initiating lifesaving measures.
Cechini was transported to the Walker airport, where medical crews continued resuscitation efforts. Sadly, she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
