CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Authorities have confirmed that Jalijuan Haggard, 18, and a 16-year-old male suspect have been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder after a shooting on Market Street that left 15-year-old victim, Kaliyah Williams, injured on Thursday morning.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), officers responded around 9 a.m. Thursday to reports of gunfire and a vehicle crash just south of Chattanooga Creek near The Howard School. Police located a wrecked vehicle and observed two individuals walking away from the scene.
Soon after, investigators were alerted that 15-year-old Kaliyah Williams had arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old woman, identified as Michelle Carter, who was unharmed during the shooting.
