Seminole Shooting Ends in Self-Inflicted Gunshot; Woman Survives

SEMINOLE, Fla. — A domestic dispute in Seminole turned violent Friday evening when 65-year-old Steven Grossman reportedly shot his wife before taking his own life, authorities confirmed. The incident prompted a swift response from Pinellas County deputies and left the neighborhood shaken.

Deputies were called to a residence on 14557 Anchorage Circle after a woman, later identified as 58-year-old Kimberly King-Judd, fled to a neighbor’s home reporting that her husband had shot her. Responding officers found her with a graze wound to the back of her head, caused by a bullet, and she was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Grossman remained inside the home, reportedly armed with a firearm, as deputies attempted to communicate with him from an armored vehicle. Despite repeated commands and negotiation attempts, Grossman refused to comply, creating a tense standoff situation for law enforcement personnel.

When deputies eventually entered the home, they discovered Grossman in the living room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the motive behind the shooting, but early reports suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between Grossman and King-Judd. Law enforcement emphasized that the quick actions of deputies prevented further harm and ensured the safety of nearby residents.

Neighbors described the scene as alarming and chaotic, with multiple emergency vehicles and a heavy law enforcement presence. One neighbor said, “It’s terrifying to think something like this happened right next door. We saw deputies negotiating, and it was clear they were trying to avoid anyone else getting hurt.”

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, including reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting. Officials also stressed the importance of reaching out to counseling and support services for residents who may be affected by the trauma of witnessing or learning about such violent incidents.

This tragic event highlights the dangers of domestic conflicts escalating into deadly violence, as well as the critical role of law enforcement in responding to armed standoffs to protect lives.
