Police Scotland Appeal for Information Following Fatal Crash on the A1 Near Granthouse

Police Scotland is appealing to the public for information following a tragic fatal crash that occurred late on Thursday evening, 28 August 2025, on the A1 near Granthouse.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., officers received reports of a serious incident involving a female pedestrian who was struck by a number of vehicles on the A1, approximately one mile north of the Granthouse junction with the A6112. Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, responded swiftly to the scene. Despite their efforts, a 50-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the location.

There were no reports of any other injuries connected to the incident.

In order to allow for a thorough investigation of the crash site, the A1 was closed to traffic in both directions overnight. Collision investigators carried out detailed enquiries at the scene, and the road was fully reopened around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, 29 August 2025.

Sergeant Dave Waddell of Police Scotland expressed his condolences, stating:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time. We are doing everything possible to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with officers to please get in touch. I would also urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who has dash cam footage that could assist our investigation to contact us as soon as possible.”

Police Scotland is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in piecing together the events leading up to the fatal crash.
