Person Injured in Early-Morning Shooting Near Indiana University Campus; Suspect Arrested

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – August 25, 2025 – A person was injured in a shooting early Monday morning on the Indiana University campus, prompting a rapid police response and a temporary shelter-in-place order for students and staff.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of 10th Street and Walnut Grove. University officials immediately warned the campus community to stay indoors and avoid the area while police secured the scene and began their investigation.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital, where they are currently recovering. Police described the injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
