Parents Arrested in Connection with Death of 7-Month-Old Emmanuel Haro in Cabazon

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. — Authorities have confirmed the arrests of Jake Mitchell Haro, 32, and Rebecca Renee Haro, 41, residents of Cabazon, California, in connection with the tragic death of their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department described the case as a homicide carried out with malice aforethought.

Investigators reported that Emmanuel’s mother, Rebecca Haro, initially claimed that her infant son had been kidnapped from a parking lot while she was changing his diaper. However, a thorough investigation revealed evidence that contradicted her account, ultimately leading to her arrest.

Rebecca Renee Haro has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of murder with malice. She is being held without bail, and court records indicate her next hearing is scheduled for August 26, 2025, at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

Authorities have also confirmed that Jake Haro was arrested in connection with the case. However, his booking information has not yet been publicly released, suggesting that he may still be in the process of being booked, or that the records are not yet available.

The case has sparked widespread public outrage, particularly due to Jake Haro’s criminal history. According to officials, he was on probation for previously injuring a baby and was out on bond for an unrelated firearm possession charge at the time of Emmanuel’s death. The circumstances of the case have raised significant concerns about the criminal justice system’s ability to monitor high-risk individuals and protect vulnerable children.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available. Authorities are urging the public to avoid speculation while the legal process unfolds and reminded anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.

The tragic death of Emmanuel Haro has left the Cabazon community mourning a young life lost far too soon, while shining a spotlight on the dangers posed when individuals with violent criminal histories remain unsupervised in the community. Officials continue to work to ensure that justice is served in this heartbreaking case.
