It is with profound sorrow that the OJ French Memorial Foundation announces the untimely and tragic passing of Elisha Jones III, affectionately known as EJ, one of our most recent scholarship recipients. EJ’s loss leaves a heavy void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless members of our community who were touched by his kindness, talent, and spirit.
EJ was more than just a scholarship recipient—he was a young man of promise, dedication, and heart. His commitment to his education, his community, and those around him reflected a rare combination of perseverance and generosity. Those who knew him remember his laughter, his thoughtful nature, and his unwavering determination to make a positive difference in the world.
In this moment of grief, we find solace in the words of Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” May these words bring comfort to all who loved EJ, offering hope and peace amid the sorrow.
The OJ French Memorial Foundation extends heartfelt condolences to EJ’s family and friends. We recognize the pain of losing a bright and promising life so suddenly, and we stand with the community in mourning this tremendous loss.
While his life was far too short, EJ’s light and legacy continue to shine in the many lives he touched. From his scholarship achievements to his impact on friends, mentors, and peers, EJ leaves behind a lasting imprint of compassion, resilience, and inspiration.
As we grieve, we also celebrate EJ’s life—a life that encouraged us to live with purpose, kindness, and determination. May his memory serve as a reminder to cherish each moment and to honor those who make a difference in our lives, no matter how brief their time with us may be.
Our prayers are with EJ’s loved ones and the community during this difficult time. May God’s peace surround every heart in mourning, and may EJ’s legacy continue to inspire future generations.
