INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A deadly overnight shooting has left one man dead, another hospitalized, and police piecing together a complicated chain of events that stretched across the city.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), the initial call came in around 1:52 a.m. Saturday. Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Graceland Avenue, near Crown Hill Cemetery, after reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found a male victim in the backyard of a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics rushed him to Methodist Hospital, but despite efforts to save his life, he died about 30 minutes later. His name and age have not yet been released.

Not long after, a second man arrived at Eskenazi Hospital with gunshot wounds. Investigators learned that the car which dropped him off was tied to the Graceland Avenue scene, suggesting he was injured during the same shooting. He remains in stable condition, though detectives are still working to determine if he was another victim caught in the crossfire or potentially a suspect involved in the violence.

Witnesses told police they saw two individuals running from the Graceland Avenue home after gunshots rang out. While officers were still processing the crime scene, another major development unfolded across town. IMPD units were called to a crash on West 21st Street and quickly realized the individuals involved matched the descriptions of those who fled the shooting.

Capt. John Arvin of IMPD said investigators are now pursuing search warrants to collect evidence both at the shooting scene and from the crashed vehicle. “So it’s a lot to unwind,” Arvin explained, noting that the investigation is still in its early stages and detectives are working carefully to determine roles of everyone involved.

At this time, no arrests have been announced. Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

PEMBROKE, N.Y. – A tragic accident on Interstate 90 near Pembroke has left multiple people dead and sent dozens more to area hospitals after a tour bus carrying 54 passengers veered off the road Saturday morning.

SAN ANTONIO – An 18-year-old man is now behind bars, facing a string of aggravated robbery charges after what authorities describe as a “brazen and violent crime spree” that left a 19-year-old woman fighting for her life.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, Manuel Morgan was arrested this week in connection with a terrifying social media setup that took place in the early morning hours of April 2. Investigators say Morgan, along with three other teens, orchestrated a plan to lure a victim to a remote neighborhood on the northeast side of the city using Instagram as a trap.

The Ambush on Desert View

Court documents reveal that a juvenile suspect initially contacted the 19-year-old victim on Instagram, pretending to be a buyer interested in purchasing vape cigarettes. The meeting point was set for the 4100 block of Desert View, just after 1:30 a.m. Unaware of the deadly intentions awaiting her, the woman arrived expecting a simple transaction.

What happened next was described by detectives as “a cold-blooded ambush.”

As soon as she pulled up, Morgan and another teen emerged from the shadows armed with a handgun. They ordered the woman to hand over her belongings at gunpoint. When she attempted to flee in her vehicle, Morgan reportedly opened fire, striking her multiple times as she tried desperately to escape.

Police say she was hit in the face, wrist, and stomach before managing to drive a short distance away. Despite her severe injuries, she was able to call 911 from inside her car. Responding officers found her slumped over the steering wheel, bleeding heavily. She was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors performed emergency surgery to save her life.

Part of a Larger Pattern of Violence

Authorities believe this incident is part of a growing trend of violent crimes involving teenagers using social media to target unsuspecting victims. Detectives investigating the case say there have been multiple reports of similar ambush-style robberies in the area around First View and Perrin Beitel.

“This wasn’t random—it was calculated,” one investigator told reporters. “They’re exploiting social media platforms to prey on people, and in this case, it almost cost a young woman her life.”

A History of Violence

Further digging into Morgan’s background revealed he was already wanted for another violent crime. On July 16, just months after the April ambush, Morgan allegedly attempted to steal merchandise from the Macy’s store inside South Park Mall. When a loss prevention officer tried to intervene, Morgan reportedly pulled a gun, pointed it at the employee, and fled the store.

Police say Morgan’s escalating behavior made his arrest a top priority. “This individual demonstrated a complete disregard for human life,” said SAPD Chief William McManus. “He has shown a willingness to use deadly force not once, but multiple times. Getting him off the streets was essential.”

LAS VEGAS, NV (August 23, 2021) – Today, we pause to remember and honor the life and service of Sergeant Douglas King, a devoted law enforcement officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), who passed away on August 23, 2021, from complications related to COVID-19.

Sgt. King began his career with LVMPD on August 12, 2004, dedicating 17 years of his life to serving and protecting the Las Vegas community. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of those whose lives he touched.

He was widely recognized for his extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment to duty. One of the defining moments of his career was his heroic response to the Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting on October 1, 2017, where he was among the first officers on the scene of one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. His actions that night reflected the very essence of what it means to be a protector in the face of unimaginable danger.

Sgt. King’s valor was again demonstrated during a domestic violence incident, where his decisive actions saved lives. For his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the department’s highest recognition for acts of heroism.

Beyond his badge, Sgt. King was remembered as a man of kindness, integrity, and compassion. His colleagues described him as a natural leader who inspired others through his quiet strength and his unwavering belief in doing what was right.

To his family, Sgt. King was a loving husband and father, devoted to his wife Cinnamon and their daughters Scarlett, Tommi, and Hannah. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy will live on through the lives he impacted both in and out of uniform.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, deputies arrived on scene shortly after receiving emergency calls reporting gunfire in the area. The teen victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was located and is being treated by emergency medical personnel. His condition has not been disclosed at this time.

BESSEMER, Ala. — 29-year-old Angelica Newton of Bessemer, who was about three months pregnant, was tragically killed during a domestic incident late Thursday night on 5th Street. Police have arrested 32-year-old Alfred Lee Colven, her boyfriend, in connection with the shooting.

According to the Bessemer Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire on August 21. When they arrived, they found Newton suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities quickly identified Colven as the suspect. Investigators confirmed that Newton and Colven were in a relationship at the time of the shooting. Colven was taken into custody and is now facing a capital murder charge, in part because Newton was pregnant at the time of her death.

DETROIT, Mich. — The tragic events that unfolded recently involving Latricia Green and her ex-husband, Mario Green, highlight a harrowing struggle for safety and justice that went unheeded.

On June 13, 2025, Latricia went to court seeking a personal protection order (PPO) against her ex-husband. In her request, she detailed a pattern of stalking and harassment, including repeated calls to her workplace, showing up uninvited, and even attempting to enter her office without permission. Her plea was a desperate call for help to prevent further harm. Unfortunately, the judge denied her request, leaving Latricia vulnerable and fearful for her safety.

Over the following weeks, Latricia’s fears intensified. By July 20, she returned to court with a renewed and more urgent plea. She reported that Mario had escalated his behavior — breaking into her car, destroying her belongings, following her on the road, and even attempting to block her car. She described living in constant fear, writing,

“I have tried being cordial because I feel that the system has now let me down each time that I have tried to make reports on this man. My father was murdered and now with this situation I am now in mental distress and scared not knowing what to do. I have to constantly look over my shoulder to make sure this man is not following me to hurt me like he has done in the past with physical abuse. I am asking for help before this goes too far, and things are too late.”

The court finally granted her personal protection order on July 21, recognizing Mario Green as a legitimate threat to her safety. However, there was a critical problem: the order was never served to him. Assistant Police Chief Charles Fitzgerald confirmed,

“Unfortunately, (the PPO) was not served on her ex-husband… and it almost brings us here today.”

Latricia’s ordeal is made more tragic by the fact that the justice system, while acknowledging the threat, failed to take the necessary steps to enforce it. The denial of her initial PPO and the failure to serve the later order left her exposed to continued harassment and danger.

Authorities have since revealed that Mario Green had a history of violent behavior, including a prior conviction for aggravated stalking in 2001 and nearly six years in prison for arson, before being released in 2012. These past offenses underscored the very real threat Latricia faced.
