  • Antoine Stokes Dead, Layla Bennett in Custody, Jalen Thomas at Large Following Violent Hephzibah Waffle House Incident

Antoine Stokes Dead, Layla Bennett in Custody, Jalen Thomas at Large Following Violent Hephzibah Waffle House Incident

HEPHZIBAH, GA — A violent confrontation at a Hephzibah Waffle House Wednesday night ended with Antoine Stokes dead, Layla Bennett behind bars, and her boyfriend Jalen Thomas still on the run, authorities say. The incident is the culmination of a tangled web of prior criminal activity, gang connections, and personal conflicts that law enforcement officials are still piecing together.

Bennett, who had previously reported a domestic violence incident involving Stokes just two months earlier, told investigators she believed Stokes had been following her. “I didn’t know what he wanted, but I was scared for my life,” Bennett reportedly told law enforcement. She initially attempted to leave the parking lot, but when Stokes continued to follow, she returned to the Waffle House, hoping the confrontation would end without violence.

Stokes’ history, authorities say, likely intensified the fear. At just 16 years old, he was charged in the 2019 murder of 19-year-old Kenneth Porter during a failed robbery attempt in Augusta. Though he did not pull the trigger, prosecutors say he was recruited to participate in the crime, handed a firearm, and played a role in the setup. Following the shooting, Stokes reportedly confessed to his mother and turned himself in. He eventually accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm. He served a five-year sentence and was placed on probation under Georgia’s First Offender Act.

The Waffle House encounter quickly escalated into violence, leaving Stokes dead and sparking a manhunt for Thomas, who remains at large. Bennett was arrested at the scene and is now facing multiple charges, including homicide. Investigators say they are actively pursuing Thomas, whose involvement in the deadly incident is under investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts to come forward. Sheriff’s deputies describe him as armed and dangerous, and they are cautioning the public to avoid attempting to approach him.

This violent episode underscores a larger pattern of criminal behavior and unresolved conflicts in the Hephzibah and Augusta area. From prior gang ties to domestic violence and past criminal convictions, the individuals involved had histories that, officials say, contributed to the tragic confrontation at the Waffle House.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident, including the precise motivations behind the confrontation and whether others may have been involved. Meanwhile, the community is left grappling with the aftermath of a deadly night that has shaken a small, otherwise quiet part of Richmond County.

  • Demontrel Benard Wilson, Deonate Cornealous Cherry, and Terrance Jaland Blue Charged in Fatal Shooting of 6-Year-Old Rylee Love

Demontrel Benard Wilson, Deonate Cornealous Cherry, and Terrance Jaland Blue Charged in Fatal Shooting of 6-Year-Old Rylee Love

DETROIT, Mich. — Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced on Saturday, August 23, 2025, that Demontrel Benard Wilson, Deonate Cornealous Cherry, and Terrance Jaland Blue have been formally charged in connection with the tragic and senseless death of 6-year-old Rylee Love.

The defendants, 30-year-old Demontrel Benard Wilson, 28-year-old Deonate Cornealous Cherry, and 28-year-old Terrance Jaland Blue, face serious charges including Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Murder, and Conspiracy to Discharge Firearms from a Vehicle Causing Death, among others. All three were arraigned and remanded to jail following their court appearance.

The fatal incident occurred on July 27, 2025, at approximately 8:58 p.m., when Detroit police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Anglin Street and Stender Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were urgently flagged down by family members at a nearby residence who reported that a child had been shot inside their home.

Investigators found Rylee Love in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported by medics to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, leaving the community in shock and grief.

Speaking about the case, Prosecutor Kym Worthy described Rylee as “the ultimate innocent victim” and emphasized the devastating consequences of reckless violence. “The alleged actions of these defendants directly caused his senseless death. I have said many times that bullets have no eyes or sense of direction. The bullets in this case struck a child playing in his house, and he will not see another day,” Worthy said.

The arrests mark a critical step in the investigation, which has involved gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and examining witness statements to establish the defendants’ roles in the shooting. Authorities allege that the shooting was a result of deliberate and coordinated criminal activity, highlighting the dangers posed by firearms used in residential areas.

Legal proceedings for the defendants are scheduled to continue with a Probable Cause Conference on September 2, 2025, followed by a Preliminary Examination on September 9, 2025, both before Judge Shawn Jacque. Prosecutors have indicated that they will pursue all available evidence to ensure justice is served for Rylee Love and his family.

The tragic loss of Rylee has reverberated throughout Detroit, prompting calls for increased safety measures, stricter gun laws, and greater awareness of the dangers of gun violence. Friends, neighbors, and community members have expressed profound grief over the death of a child whose life was abruptly ended by acts of violence beyond his control.

As the legal process unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward to support the ongoing investigation. The community continues to mourn Rylee Love, remembering him as a young boy with a bright future whose life was taken far too soon.

  • Arrests Made in 2023 Colerain Township Murder of India Kinamore and Her Unborn Child

Arrests Made in 2023 Colerain Township Murder of India Kinamore and Her Unborn Child

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Nearly two and a half years after the tragic shooting of 26-year-old India Kinamore in Colerain Township, police and prosecutors have announced the arrest of three men in connection with the killing of Kinamore and her unborn child. The arrests mark a major development in a case that shocked the Cincinnati community and left her family grieving.

On March 4, 2023, just after 4:30 a.m., Colerain Township police responded to reports of a shooting at a residential home. Upon arrival, officers found India Kinamore, who was in the late stages of pregnancy, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Kinamore had been scheduled for a labor induction that day, making the loss of her and her unborn child particularly devastating.

After a lengthy investigation, on August 21, 2025, authorities arrested 20-year-old Robert Ervin, 30-year-old Kayvon Warren, and 22-year-old Lamar Morris Suggs in connection with the case. Prosecutors allege that the men conspired to kill Kinamore and her unborn child, citing extensive evidence collected over nearly two years.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney David Hickenlooper explained that investigators had uncovered cell phone communications among the three men that revealed planning and coordination leading up to the shooting. Video evidence also placed the defendants at or near the crime scene. “It would seem this defendant and his co-defendants were conspiring to come up with this plan to kill Miss Kinamore and her unborn child,” Hickenlooper told the court during Warren’s hearing.

Prosecutors allege that Warren, who had been in a relationship with Kinamore, wanted her to terminate the pregnancy. However, Warren’s attorney, Clyde Bennett, denied the claim, stating that Warren had been cooperative with law enforcement and actually wanted the child. Bennett also emphasized that Warren did not flee the jurisdiction despite knowing he was wanted for murder.

At the arraignment, Kinamore’s mother, Terri, urged the judge to set high bonds for the defendants, expressing the grief and anger of a mother who had lost her daughter and grandchild. She recounted receiving a call that morning from her daughter’s 6-year-old son, who had been in the home at the time of the shooting.

Ervin’s attorney argued that his client had no personal ties to Kinamore and was simply “guilty by association.” Prosecutors countered, citing cell phone records and location data that placed Ervin and his vehicle near the crime scene, as well as evidence showing his involvement in coordinating the killing.

All three men—Ervin, Warren, and Suggs—are charged with two counts of murder each. The judge set bond at $300,000 per charge for both Warren and Ervin, who are currently in custody at the Hamilton County Justice Center. Suggs, the third defendant, is already serving time in the Ohio Department of Corrections on an unrelated weapons charge.

The case has brought renewed attention to issues of domestic violence, premeditated crimes involving unborn children, and the complexities of investigations involving multiple suspects. Prosecutors have said they will continue gathering evidence and building their case in preparation for trial.

The tragic loss of India Kinamore and her unborn child continues to reverberate through the community, leaving friends, family, and neighbors mourning while seeking justice for a senseless act of violence.
