PERRY, Fla. – An 18-year-old Perry man has been arrested in connection with a violent Thursday night shooting that left two Taylor County teenagers dead and four others wounded.
Authorities confirmed that Jaquez Arion Price, 18, of Perry, is facing multiple felony charges including first-degree murder while armed, attempted first-degree murder, and armed burglary.
Price was taken into custody by the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) on Sunday under an out-of-county arrest warrant. Officials said Price had been receiving treatment at a Tallahassee hospital for a gunshot wound sustained during the incident. Upon his release from the hospital, TPD immediately executed the warrant, and Price was subsequently transported to the Leon County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
Deadly Shooting at Perrytown Apartments
The deadly shooting occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday, August 21, inside a residential unit at Perrytown Apartments. According to the Perry Police Department (PPD), multiple shots were fired, leaving four teens injured and two fatally wounded. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
PPD Chief Jamie Cruse confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing. “We are working diligently to ensure those responsible for this tragic act are brought to justice,” Cruse stated. “At this stage, we cannot release additional details due to the sensitivity of the investigation.”
Community Shaken by Teen Violence
The fatal shooting has sent shockwaves through the small Taylor County community, leaving residents grappling with the violent loss of young lives. Local officials and community leaders have called for an end to escalating violence and urged residents to come forward with any information that could aid investigators.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting, nor have they confirmed whether additional suspects are being sought.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators from the Perry Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are collaborating on the case. More details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
