BLAIREADAM, Scotland – Police have formally identified the young man who tragically lost his life in a fatal crash near Blaireadam on Sunday night. 22-year-old Ollie Nelson, from Strathmiglo, was confirmed as the victim of the collision, which occurred on the B996 at the junction for the B9097 at approximately 10:50 p.m. on August 17, 2025.
Authorities reported that the crash involved a black Seat Leon. Ollie Nelson, a passenger in the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, but despite their efforts, Nelson could not be saved.
In a heartfelt statement, Constable Lee Buckley of Police Scotland expressed condolences to Nelson’s family:
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ollie at this devastating time. We are doing everything we can to provide them with the answers they deserve.”
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance, particularly anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the collision or captured dashcam footage.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash and witnessed what happened, or has any dashcam footage which could assist, to please get in touch with officers,” Constable Buckley added.
Ollie Nelson’s family, who have requested privacy as they grieve this devastating loss, described him as a vibrant young man with a bright future ahead. Friends and members of the Strathmiglo community have expressed their shock and sorrow at the news of his passing, with many taking to social media to share tributes and memories.
