In Loving Memory of Jeremy Joel Brass

We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jeremy Joel Brass, an Indigenous Social Work student at the First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv), whose life was tragically cut short just as he was on the brink of achieving a remarkable milestone. Jeremy was only three classes away from completing his degree—an accomplishment that reflected his hard work, passion, and unwavering commitment to creating positive change in his community.

From November 2023 to August 2024, Jeremy was an integral part of our Human Resources department as a mentored Student Worker. During his time with us, he brought far more than just skills and dedication—he brought kindness, empathy, and a light that inspired everyone around him. His colleagues fondly remember him as dependable, compassionate, and always ready with a warm smile or encouraging word.

Known lovingly to many as “JermBug,” Jeremy’s presence had a way of uplifting every space he entered. His positive energy, sense of humor, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on those who had the privilege of knowing him will live on in their hearts forever.

As we mourn this immense loss, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences go out to Jeremy’s family, friends, classmates, and loved ones. We hope they can find comfort in knowing how deeply he was admired and how profoundly he touched the lives of those around him.

Jeremy’s journey was one of promise, compassion, and hope. While we grieve what could have been, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and love for community.

May his spirit rest peacefully, and may we honor his memory by carrying forward the light he shared with all of us.
