Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision on Hwy. 105 Near Lexington Under Investigation by Inverness County RCMP

INVERNESS COUNTY, N.S. — Inverness County District RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 105 near Lexington on August 20, 2025. The crash, which involved two vehicles, claimed the life of a 52-year-old Ontario man and left another person seriously injured.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. when emergency services, including the RCMP, fire departments, and Emergency Health Services (EHS), responded to a report of a crash between two vehicles on Hwy. 105, in the stretch between Long Stretch Road and Lake Horton Road.

Investigators determined that a Chevrolet CZT and a Jeep collided before both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the opposite side of the road. Tragically, the driver of the Chevrolet, a 52-year-old man from Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old woman from Eskasoni, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS for urgent care.

Inverness County RCMP confirmed that a collision reconstructionist attended the scene to assist in determining the cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

As a result of the incident, a portion of Hwy. 105 between Port Hastings and Lexington was closed for several hours to allow emergency crews to respond and to facilitate the investigation. The highway has since reopened, but authorities remind drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant when traveling through the area.

The RCMP extended their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time and emphasized that anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact Inverness County District RCMP.
