MILWAUKEE, Wis. – August 24, 2025 – A deadly crash in Milwaukee Saturday evening has left David Morales dead and police searching for a suspect after a vehicle chase tied to a recent shooting ended in tragedy.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the incident began around 7:40 p.m. near 60th and Meinecke, when officers spotted a vehicle believed to be connected to a recent shooting investigation. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit through the city.
The chase came to a devastating end when the fleeing vehicle collided with another car traveling along West Center Street. The driver of the struck vehicle, who was not involved in the chase, suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of family.
The suspect responsible for the crash fled on foot after the collision, and police say they are still actively searching for the individual. Investigators have not released a description of the suspect or details of the shooting that led officers to attempt the stop, but they confirmed that the fleeing driver faces multiple serious charges once apprehended.
The crash site remained blocked off for hours as detectives and crash reconstruction teams examined the scene. Debris from both vehicles scattered across West Center Street as officers redirected traffic and gathered witness statements.
Community members expressed frustration and heartbreak at the loss of another innocent life connected to reckless fleeing drivers. “It’s devastating that someone just going about their evening could be killed because of someone else’s choices,” one resident said near the crash site.
The Milwaukee Police Department has urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward as they continue their investigation. Meanwhile, loved ones of the victim are left grieving a sudden and preventable tragedy.
