BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — A violent shooting in Bullhead City sent shockwaves through the community on the evening of August 20, leaving 58-year-old female resident critically injured and resulting in the arrests of Tyler Rey Nelson, 21, of Fort Mohave, and his mother, Toni Marie Sierra, 40, also of Fort Mohave.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers with the Bullhead City Police Department responded to reports of a weapons offense in the 1000 block of Holly Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the woman had been shot multiple times in the back. First responders immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for further treatment. Her current condition has not been publicly released.
Following a thorough investigation and witness interviews, police arrested Nelson for attempted second-degree murder during a traffic stop near Alona’s Way and Trane Road in Bullhead City at around 8 p.m. Authorities recovered a firearm inside his vehicle.
Sierra was arrested at her residence for facilitation related to the crime. Both suspects are currently being held in the Mohave County Jail in Kingman, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
According to police, Nelson and Sierra went to the Holly Street residence to confront a resident regarding stolen property. During the confrontation, Nelson allegedly shot the homeowner. Law enforcement confirmed that the victim was not armed at the time of the altercation.
This shocking incident has raised concern among Bullhead City residents, who noted that violent crimes remain rare in the area but emphasized the importance of community vigilance and reporting suspicious activity. Police continue to urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
