Hospital Employee Identified as Victim in Deadly Shooting at Henry Ford Hospital; Ex-Husband Wanted

DETROIT, Mich. — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal workplace shooting that shocked Detroit Friday morning. Police say Latricia Zozo Green, a dedicated employee at Henry Ford Hospital’s main campus, was gunned down by her ex-husband during a confrontation in the hospital’s basement.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded shortly after the start of the workday. Security footage and witness accounts indicate that 53-year-old Ford Mario Green, Latricia’s former spouse, entered the hospital and located her in the basement area. After what police described as a heated verbal altercation, Ford Green pulled out a firearm and opened fire, fatally striking her.

Hospital security cameras later captured the suspect leaving through the hospital’s front entrance. He fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, and as of Friday afternoon, remains at large. Detroit police have launched a manhunt and are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the suspect.

Latricia Green’s sudden and violent death has left coworkers and community members shaken. Colleagues at Henry Ford Hospital, where she was known for her professionalism and compassion, expressed devastation over losing a friend and teammate in such a tragic way. The hospital issued a statement calling the incident a “heartbreaking tragedy” and reaffirmed that the safety of patients and staff is their highest priority. Additional security measures were implemented following the shooting, and counseling services have been offered to hospital staff.

Police said the shooting was domestic in nature and that Latricia had no indication her ex-husband would target her at work. “This is a deeply personal tragedy that played out in a very public place,” a Detroit Police Department spokesperson said, noting that investigators are reviewing all available security footage and interviewing witnesses to track the suspect’s movements.

The hospital, one of Detroit’s largest medical facilities, remained operational, though parts of the building were temporarily restricted as investigators processed the scene. Patients and visitors were asked to avoid the area where the shooting occurred until police concluded their work.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ford Mario Green to contact Detroit police immediately. They warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

For now, Detroit mourns the loss of Latricia Zozo Green, whose life ended violently in a place dedicated to healing. Community members and hospital staff are expected to hold vigils in her memory in the coming days.

Police Investigating Fatal Shooting at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Authorities in Pascagoula are investigating a deadly shooting that took place early Friday morning at Ingalls Shipbuilding, the state’s largest manufacturing employer and a critical hub for U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ship production.

According to the Pascagoula Police Department, officers were dispatched to the shipyard at approximately 7:32 a.m. following reports of gunfire. When they arrived on scene, police confirmed that one individual had been fatally shot. A suspect was quickly taken into custody, though officials have not released any information regarding the suspect’s identity or possible motive.

As of Friday, the victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Police emphasized that the situation has been contained and that there is no active threat to the public.

The incident prompted a heavy law enforcement presence, with multiple agencies responding to secure the shipyard and ensure the safety of employees. Emergency vehicles were seen entering and exiting the facility throughout the morning as investigators began processing the crime scene.

In a statement, HII, the parent company of Ingalls Shipbuilding, expressed sorrow over the tragedy and reassured employees that steps were being taken to maintain safety inside the shipyard. Workers were instructed to shelter in place immediately after the shooting until law enforcement gave the all-clear.

Ingalls Shipbuilding, located on the Pascagoula River, has been in operation for more than 85 years and is recognized as the largest supplier of surface combatants for the U.S. Navy. It is also the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi, with thousands of workers employed at the facility.

The city of Pascagoula, home to about 22,000 residents, is closely tied to the shipyard both economically and culturally, making the incident particularly impactful for the local community. Many residents expressed shock as news of the shooting spread, noting the rarity of such violence in a workplace that has long been considered a cornerstone of the region.

  • 18-Year-Old Driver Killed in Oxford Township Crash on I-77

18-Year-Old Driver Killed in Oxford Township Crash on I-77

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AVC News) — A tragic crash on Interstate 77 claimed the life of a young driver Thursday afternoon and left several others injured. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports the collision involved three vehicles and happened around 2:18 p.m. near milepost 63 in Tuscarawas County.

According to investigators, 18-year-old Ava Stamets was behind the wheel of a Honda CR-V traveling northbound when, for reasons still under review, her vehicle crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes. The CR-V collided head-on with a Ram pickup truck operated by 50-year-old Donald Kalman, causing the truck to overturn. The force of the impact sent Stamets’ vehicle spinning into another lane, where it was struck by a second truck driven by 38-year-old Samuel Hartman.

Troopers said Stamets died at the scene, with the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office pronouncing her deceased. Kalman, Hartman, and four passengers riding in Kalman’s truck sustained minor injuries and were taken to Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge for medical evaluation.

The collision scattered debris across multiple lanes, forcing state officials to close part of the interstate for several hours. The Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with rerouting traffic while law enforcement and emergency crews worked at the site.

Authorities noted that early evidence suggests alcohol or drug impairment may have been contributing factors, though toxicology results are still pending. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the sequence of events leading up to the crash.

The loss of Stamets has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting once again the devastating consequences of impaired or reckless driving. Troopers emphasized the importance of roadway safety, especially for younger drivers who are at higher risk of serious accidents.

Further updates are expected as investigators piece together a full account of the incident.

  • Missing Child Alert – Family Pleads for Help in Locating Young Girl from Decatur

Missing Child Alert – Family Pleads for Help in Locating Young Girl from Decatur

Decatur, Illinois — A desperate family in Decatur is pleading for the public’s help after their granddaughter, Emelia, was taken from her mother’s residence under troubling circumstances that appear to violate an existing court order.

According to the child’s grandparents, Emelia was picked up on Thursday afternoon around 3:00 p.m., just two and a half hours before her father was scheduled to begin his parenting time at 5:30 p.m. Per court order, her father has the right to refuse unauthorized transport, yet the child’s mother allegedly allowed unknown individuals to take the girl out of state.

The family says they were told Emelia was transported to Florida to a group home, but this relocation was neither court-approved nor communicated to her father.

“We have been at the police station for hours trying to file a report or at least get a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) or Amber Alert issued, but no officer has spoken with us. After four hours, dispatch told us to come back tomorrow during business hours,” the grandmother said, expressing frustration at the lack of immediate law enforcement action.

    Witness Accounts

The only available information about the individuals who picked up Emelia comes from her siblings, who were present at the time. They described two adults who were unfamiliar to them:

    • Male: Approximately 40s, brown hair, clean-shaven, wearing a t-shirt and pants.
    • Female: Approximately 40s, blonde hair pulled into a bun, tank top, and pants.
    • Vehicle: Gray minivan, no license plate information available.

Witnesses stated that the two individuals never entered past the doorway of the home. Emelia’s belongings had already been packed, and the departure happened quickly.

    Family’s Call for Action

Loved ones are urgently asking for assistance from both law enforcement and the public to ensure Emelia’s safety. They stress that her removal from Illinois and transport to Florida was unauthorized and directly against the court’s custody order.

The family is now appealing to the public:

    • If you have seen a gray minivan matching the description or witnessed anything unusual near the child’s mother’s residence in Decatur around 3:00 p.m., please contact authorities immediately.
    • Anyone with knowledge of a group home in Florida that may have recently received a child under questionable circumstances is asked to come forward.

What To Do If You Have Information

Please call Decatur Police Department or 911 immediately if you have information that could help locate Emelia. Time is critical in cases involving missing children, and family members fear for her well-being.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a developing situation. Details may change as official reports are filed and verified.
