BREAKING: Police Respond to Reported Shooting Near SW Military Drive and I-35

SAN ANTONIO — Authorities are on the scene Tuesday evening after reports of a shooting near the intersection of Southwest Military Drive and Interstate 35, a busy corridor lined with restaurants, retail stores, and heavy commuter traffic.

Details remain limited, but San Antonio police and emergency responders were dispatched to the area after 911 callers reported gunfire just after 6 p.m. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as multiple patrol units rushed to block off portions of the road near the interchange, while paramedics worked to assist at least one individual believed to be injured.

Video from the scene shows officers setting up crime scene tape across a section of the frontage road, with traffic backing up in multiple directions. Several bystanders could be seen standing outside nearby businesses, watching as investigators combed through the area for shell casings and other evidence.

At this time, police have not confirmed how many people were injured or whether any suspects are in custody. A spokesperson for the San Antonio Police Department said more information would be released once investigators are able to secure the scene and speak with witnesses.

The area surrounding SW Military Drive and I-35 is a major hub for both local residents and highway travelers. The shooting prompted immediate concerns about safety in the heavily trafficked corridor. Businesses nearby, including fast-food restaurants and shopping centers, were placed on temporary lockdown while police secured the scene.

Residents in the area told reporters they heard multiple loud pops, followed by cars speeding away. One driver said she saw people ducking for cover in a parking lot as officers began arriving.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area while the investigation continues. Heavy traffic delays are expected as lanes remain blocked near the interchange.

Authorities are asking anyone with video footage or information about the incident to contact San Antonio police or Crime Stoppers.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.
