Lilly had only just begun her journey with us here at Jax State, entering as a first-year student with sophomore status thanks to her dedication to academics and dual enrollment achievements. Though her time on campus was short, her presence was already felt—through her enthusiasm for learning, her kindness to those around her, and the bright future she carried with her. Her passing leaves a deep void within our university community.

Libby, too, was an extraordinary young woman—loved by her teachers, classmates, and community in Spring Garden. Known for her vibrant personality and joyful spirit, she had dreams and aspirations that were tragically cut short. According to Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, the incident unfolded during the Waverly vs. McEwen football game on August 22, 2025, when SRO deputies received reports that a student in attendance may have had a firearm in his backpack. Witnesses told officers that the individual had displayed the weapon and allegedly made statements about planning to shoot some players after the game.
