A Community in Mourning: Remembering Bri’a Wilson

A heavy sadness has fallen over our Sandhills Patriots family as we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Bri’a Wilson, the beloved daughter of our cherished assistant coach, Ed Wilson.

For years, Coach Ed has been the heart of our program—volunteering countless hours, mentoring our kids, and pouring his energy into shaping not just better athletes, but better people. His dedication to our team has been unwavering, and his influence has touched the lives of so many. Now, in this moment of unimaginable loss, it is our turn to rally around him and his family with the same love and support he has always given us.

Bri’a was a bright and vibrant soul, a young woman whose warmth, energy, and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her sudden passing is a devastating reminder of how fragile life can be and how deeply one person can impact so many lives in such a short time.

To support Coach Ed and his family through this difficult journey, we have launched a GoFundMe to help alleviate the unexpected financial burdens they are facing. Every single contribution—no matter the amount—will serve as a powerful reminder that this community stands as one in times of need.

To our Sandhills Patriots family, friends, and supporters: thank you for standing with us, for lifting up one of our own, and for showing that when we say “we are family,” we truly mean it.

Bri’a’s memory will forever live on in our hearts. May we honor her by holding each other closer, by loving as fiercely as she did, and by never forgetting the light she brought to this world.
