Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on AL-59 Near Stockton Claims Lives of Two, Juvenile Driver and Passenger Injured

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — A tragic two-vehicle crash on Alabama State Route 59, north of I-65 near Stockton, resulted in the deaths of the driver and passenger of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, while a 15-year-old juvenile driver and passenger Chantelle L. McPherson, 51, of Spanish Fort, were injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The collision occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on August 23, 2025, involving the Chevrolet Cruze and a 2021 Lexus RX 350. Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicles collided head-on, causing the Cruze to catch fire and become fully engulfed in flames.

Both the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet Cruze were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) for official identification. ALEA has not yet released their names pending confirmation.

The Lexus RX 350 was being driven by a 15-year-old juvenile, who was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. The passenger in the Lexus, 51-year-old Chantelle L. McPherson of Spanish Fort, sustained injuries in the crash and was airlifted by helicopter to USA Health University Hospital in Mobile for treatment. Authorities have not released the extent of her injuries.

The crash occurred near the 54-mile marker on AL-59, approximately two miles south of Stockton. Troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division remain on scene, investigating the circumstances of the collision, including vehicle positions, roadway conditions, and any contributing factors.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community as law enforcement continues its investigation. ALEA officials emphasized that nothing further is available at this time, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The crash serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of roadway travel and the devastating consequences of even a momentary loss of control or miscalculation on the highway.
