STEPHENVILLE, TX — A tragic collision at the intersection of Dixie and Pool Road late Saturday evening claimed the life of 44-year-old Marcus Gentry, a local resident, and sent one passenger to the hospital, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. on August 23, 2025, when the Stephenville Police Department (OPD) and Stephenville Fire Department (OFR) responded to reports of a major vehicle accident. Upon arrival, investigators found that a red Dodge 3500, operated by Gentry, had collided with a gray Jeep traveling northbound on Dixie.

The passenger of the Dodge sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities report that there were no other injuries related to the crash.

Officers are reviewing witness statements and any available surveillance or dashcam footage from the area to fully reconstruct the events leading to the crash.
The tragic incident has left the Stephenville community mourning the loss of a local resident and serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of ignoring traffic controls. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to all traffic laws to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
