CINCINNATI — The Roselawn neighborhood is reeling after two shootings within 24 hours left three people injured, one of them seriously, according to the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD).
The most recent incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday in the 7800 block of Reading Road, near a hookah bar and gas station. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found a 40-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where his current condition remains unknown.
CPD said no arrests have been made, and they do not yet have a suspect description in connection with the shooting.
This marks the second violent incident on Reading Road in less than a day. On Saturday, just blocks south in the 7500 block of Reading Road, two people were shot near another gas station and hookah bar. Both victims in that case sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. As with Sunday’s shooting, police have not identified a suspect or made any arrests.
Investigators are now working to determine whether the two shootings are connected. CPD officers canvassed both areas for surveillance footage and potential witnesses.
“Any time we have multiple shootings in close proximity and time frame, we have to consider the possibility of a connection,” a CPD spokesperson said. “We’re asking anyone who saw or heard anything in either incident to come forward and help us find those responsible.”
The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns among residents and business owners in Roselawn, particularly those near the bustling Reading Road corridor. The area, known for its nightlife spots, has seen an uptick in violent crime in recent months, prompting calls for increased police presence.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about either shooting to contact Cincinnati Police Department District 4 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online.
