CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — The Crossville Police Department is investigating a violent altercation that escalated into a shooting Friday evening in downtown Crossville. Authorities say the incident began as a verbal dispute but quickly turned physical before culminating in gunfire.
According to CPD, multiple 911 calls were received around 5:42 p.m., reporting a fight on the corner of North Main Street and Fourth Street. Officers responded immediately, arriving on the scene to find a chaotic situation. Emergency responders began lifesaving measures as they secured the area, though details about the number of people injured or the severity of their injuries have not been released.
Investigators say the fight reportedly started as a verbal argument before escalating into physical violence. At some point during the confrontation, a firearm was discharged. CPD has not confirmed who fired the weapon or the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting.
