DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A tragic traffic accident on West Old Camden Road in Darlington County claimed the life of 15-year-old Annabelle Andrews Friday night, authorities confirmed.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., approximately six miles north of Hartsville. The crash involved a pickup truck attempting to pass another vehicle while both were traveling westbound. During the maneuver, the pickup struck the front portion of the other car, causing it to overturn into a ditch and eventually collide with a utility pole.
The collision proved fatal for Annabelle Andrews, the passenger in the car that was struck. Andrews, a 15-year-old sophomore at McBee High School, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
