It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Glenn Martin, a beloved leader, mentor, and friend. Glenn, alongside his devoted wife Rhoda, played a pivotal role in the early story of Gather to Go, helping shape it into the YWAM organization it has become today. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of this ministry and into the lives of countless people he encouraged, guided, and believed in.
From the beginning, Glenn served with quiet strength and unwavering conviction. As an advisor and mentor to the leadership team, he provided wisdom that helped guide crucial decisions. As a key communicator at many Gather to Go events, he used his words to inspire, build up, and point others toward a life lived for Jesus. And as a dedicated board member until his passing, he faithfully poured himself into the mission, ensuring the vision of Gather to Go would not only survive, but thrive.
What stood out most about Glenn, however, went beyond his service. His radical belief in young people set him apart as someone who saw potential when others saw inexperience. He had a unique gift of empowering emerging leaders, reminding them that their voices and callings mattered deeply in God’s kingdom. Many who were touched by his life would say they are where they are today because Glenn not only believed in them but also walked alongside them with patience and encouragement.
Glenn’s gentleness and kindness left an indelible mark. He carried himself with humility, never seeking recognition but always eager to serve. His interactions were marked by grace, compassion, and a genuine care for the people in front of him. Those who encountered Glenn often left feeling seen, heard, and uplifted.
At the core of his life was a deep and unshakable love for Jesus. Everything Glenn did—whether advising leaders, mentoring young missionaries, or simply encouraging a friend—was rooted in his faith. His life testified to the goodness of God, not only in words, but in the way he lived each day with integrity, generosity, and a servant’s heart.
The Gather to Go family, and all who knew Glenn, are forever indebted to the ways Jesus used him to shape lives, strengthen faith, and propel many into missions. His impact will not fade with his passing; it will continue to ripple outward through every person he inspired, every leader he mentored, and every community touched by the missionaries he believed in.
Though we mourn the loss of Glenn here on earth, we rejoice in knowing he is now with his Savior—the One he loved so deeply and served so faithfully. His race is complete, his faith made sight, and his legacy lives on in the hearts and ministries of those who carry forward the vision he helped nurture.
Rest in peace, Glenn Martin. Your life was a gift, and we thank God for you.
