CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – The Crossville Police Department has released an official statement regarding a violent altercation that culminated in a shooting on Friday evening in the heart of the city.
According to the press release, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:42 p.m. CST on August 22, 2025, following a flurry of 911 calls reporting a fight in the roadway near the intersection of North Main Street and Fourth Street.
Incident Unfolds in Busy Area
Witnesses told dispatchers that what began as a heated verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight, drawing attention from passing motorists and nearby businesses. As tensions boiled over, gunfire erupted, leaving bystanders scrambling for safety.
When Crossville Police Officers arrived on the scene, they found at least one individual suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began administering lifesaving aid while securing the area to ensure the safety of the public and preserve evidence for investigators. The injured party was later transported to a nearby medical facility; their condition has not yet been released.
Investigation Ongoing, No Threat to Public
Authorities emphasized that this appears to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other, with no indication of a broader threat to the community.
“Based on our preliminary investigation, this was not a random act,” the department’s statement reads. “We want to reassure residents that there is no ongoing danger to the public.”
