RALEIGH, N.C. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting outside a Raleigh nightclub that left one man dead and another injured earlier this month.
The Raleigh Police Department announced that Jonathan David Bonilla-Ramos, 19, was taken into custody and is now facing charges of Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill following the incident.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 9, 2025, outside the Patio Nightclub, located in the 3900 block of New Bern Avenue.
According to investigators, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:34 a.m. after multiple calls to 911 reported gunfire in the nightclub’s parking lot. When officers arrived, they discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both men were immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Tragically, one of the victims later succumbed to his injuries, while the second victim survived and is expected to make a recovery. Authorities noted that the surviving victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim, pending notification of family members.
Bonilla-Ramos was arrested following an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence from the scene. Raleigh Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting, but they confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
The nightclub, which was still filled with patrons leaving for the night when the gunfire erupted, has drawn attention from community members concerned about safety in the area. This incident has renewed discussions about late-night violence and increased police presence near bars and clubs across the city.
