Lewiston Police Announce Arrests in Ongoing Conspiracy Investigation

Lewiston, ME – The Lewiston Police Department is releasing details on a serious investigation involving a Lewiston juvenile detainee at the Long Creek Youth Development Center, along with Shamsi Abdinoor, 18, and Mahad Abdikadir, 18, both of Lewiston. All three have been implicated in a conspiracy involving threats of violence and attempts to interfere with a criminal case.

On August 26, 2025, the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office notified Lewiston Police about suspicious monitored phone activity involving the juvenile detainee.

Investigators learned that during a series of phone calls, the juvenile allegedly used a girlfriend to relay instructions to associates outside the facility. According to police, these conversations included explicit directions to pressure two individuals into falsely confessing to a recent shooting. The communications also contained serious threats of violence, including plans to obtain a firearm and use it to enforce those threats if compliance was not secured.

Lewiston Police immediately launched a coordinated investigation, identifying and interviewing all individuals connected to the plot. After reviewing the evidence with the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office, authorities filed charges of Criminal Solicitation of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder against the juvenile detainee, who remains in custody at Long Creek.

In connection with the same case, Abdinoor and Abdikadir were arrested and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail, where they are currently being held without bail. Both men face the following charges:

  • Criminal Conspiracy
  • Tampering with Witness, Informant, Juror, or Victim
  • Criminal Solicitation

Lewiston Police emphasized that the swift collaboration between law enforcement, prosecutors, and correctional officials prevented the situation from escalating into violence.

“This investigation highlights how important it is to monitor threats, take them seriously, and act quickly,” a department spokesperson said. “We will not tolerate attempts to intimidate witnesses or undermine the justice process, and those responsible will be held accountable.”

The case remains under active investigation, and additional charges may follow. Police are not releasing further information at this time to protect the integrity of ongoing proceedings.
