Lexington Police Searching for Suspect After Downtown Shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky— Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person injured on West Short Street.

According to Lexington police, the incident happened in the early hours of Friday, August 29, 2025, along the busy downtown corridor. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire and quickly located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities say the individual is expected to survive, bringing a measure of relief to family, friends, and community members shaken by the violence.
