Fatal Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Berlin Man

OCEAN CITY, MD — Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Dennis Ellis, a 65-year-old motorcyclist from Berlin, Maryland. The crash happened Tuesday morning in West Ocean City, Worcester County.

The accident occurred on August 27, 2025, around 10:17 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Inlet Isle Lane. Police say Ellis was riding westbound on his motorcycle when he was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Ellis was transported by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Jeep was driven by a 17-year-old male with an 18-year-old female passenger. Both were uninjured. Police said the teen driver failed to yield the right of way. He was issued traffic citations at the scene.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack, along with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Ocean City Fire Department, and local EMS crews responded to the crash.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is handling the ongoing investigation.
