IOWA, LA – Louisiana State Police Troop D is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on August 27, 2025, shortly after 1:00 p.m. on the Interstate 10 (I-10) frontage road, just east of U.S. Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish.
The incident tragically claimed the life of 53-year-old Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings, who had been previously reported missing by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Details of the Crash
Preliminary findings indicate that Fontenot was walking along the I-10 frontage road when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver failed to stop and fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Fontenot sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office.

The Louisiana State Police is actively working to identify the vehicle involved and its driver. Troopers are urging anyone with information related to this crash to come forward.
