Oxford Township, Ohio — Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-77 Claims One Life, Several Injured

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post is investigating a tragic three-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 that left one person dead and several others injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2:18 p.m. on August 21, 2025, near milepost 63 in Oxford Township.

According to troopers, a silver 2010 Honda CR-V traveling northbound on I-77 crossed the median into the southbound lanes, colliding with a white Ford F-150 in the left lane. The impact caused the F-150 to veer off the left side of the roadway and overturn. The CR-V then spun into the right lane, striking a blue 2022 Ram 1500. Both the CR-V and Ram left the roadway and collided with a guardrail.

Emergency responders transported the drivers of the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, along with four passengers from the Ram, to Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda CR-V was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.

Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Newcomerstown EMS, Tri-County EMS, and several towing companies. The Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with road closures and traffic control while the investigation was ongoing.

Troopers indicated that drugs and alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash, although further investigation is required to determine the exact circumstances. The Highway Patrol continues to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and analyze the scene to understand the sequence of events that led to the tragic collision.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased at this time, stating that Jordan Miller News will provide the information once sufficient time has passed following the accident and the family has been notified.

The crash has left the local community shaken, with residents emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving and the need for vigilance on the road.
