Official Statement: Fatal Crash at SR 4 & SR 294 in Crawford County

Crawford County, Ohio – August 26, 2025 – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that resulted in a fatality earlier this afternoon.

At approximately 2:49 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a collision at the intersection of State Route 4 and State Route 294. Sheriff Kent and deputies immediately responded to the scene along with Bucyrus EMS, Dallas Township Fire Department, and Bucyrus Township Fire Department.

Preliminary investigation indicates that William Schoonard, 48, of Marion, Ohio, was traveling southbound on SR 4 in a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Bradley Dennany, 29, of Bucyrus, Ohio, was also traveling southbound behind Schoonard on a 2017 Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle.

According to authorities, Schoonard slowed and began turning east onto SR 294. Dennany attempted to pass the Trailblazer and collided with the driver’s side front of the vehicle. The impact caused Dennany to be ejected from the motorcycle, which, along with Dennany, continued off the roadway and came to rest in a nearby yard. Officials noted that Dennany was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Crawford County Coroner Chris Johnson responded to the scene and pronounced Dennany deceased. Schoonard was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were subsequently removed from the scene by Lohr’s Towing, and deputies remain on-site conducting a thorough investigation. The crash remains under active review to determine contributing factors and exact circumstances.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of Bradley Dennany during this difficult time and asks anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the department.
