inot, Maine – August 26, 2025 – Early Tuesday morning, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a devastating traffic crash in Minot that claimed the life of Jonathan Spofford and involved Dylan Conlon. At approximately 5:36 a.m., deputies, along with first responders from Minot Fire-Rescue and the Auburn Fire Department, arrived at the scene in the 700 block of Center Minot Hill Road following reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation by authorities indicates that a black 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, operated by 39-year-old Dylan Conlon of Norway, Maine, was traveling northbound on Center Minot Hill Road when it crossed the centerline and struck a southbound gold 2004 Mercury minivan. The minivan was being driven by Mr. Spofford, 48, of Hebron, Maine.
The impact of the collision was severe, and Mr. Spofford sustained fatal injuries. Emergency personnel from Minot Fire-Rescue, with assistance from the Auburn Fire Department, worked to extricate him from the minivan. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Conlon was unharmed in the crash and did not require medical attention.
The crash forced the temporary closure of Center Minot Hill Road between Marston Hill Road and Woodman Hill Road for nearly five hours as authorities conducted a thorough on-scene investigation. Investigators examined the vehicles, collected evidence, and documented the scene to determine the factors contributing to the collision.
At this time, the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. Spofford during this incredibly difficult time,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “We ask the community to respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of a cherished member of their community.”
