BRADENTON, Fla— The Bradenton Police Department is actively investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of local teenager Kayvon Dunbar late Monday night. The incident occurred in the 400 block of 11th Avenue East on August 25.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:28 p.m., where they discovered 15-year-old Kayvon Dunbar suffering from a gunshot wound outside a residence. Responding officers immediately administered first aid in an attempt to save the young victim’s life. Despite their efforts, Dunbar succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Bradenton detectives, along with homicide investigators, worked through the night processing the crime scene and gathering witness statements to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting. Officials have not released information regarding any suspects or the potential motive at this time, but the investigation remains active and ongoing.
