Steven Funk, 47, Killed During Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Disturbance in Knoxville

Knoxville, IA — The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has confirmed that Steven Funk, 47, of Knoxville, was the individual who was fatally shot by law enforcement officers during a domestic disturbance incident late last week.

According to the DCI, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Roche Street shortly after 11:00 p.m. on August 21, following reports that Funk was assaulting a woman inside the home. Upon arrival, officers attempted to intervene in the violent situation. During the confrontation, an officer discharged their firearm, striking Funk. He was transported to a hospital in Des Moines, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
